Mayfield has been actively investing in the Chinese community in Silicon Valley for many years. Our journey to investing in China began in 2003, which led to a long-term partnership with GSR Ventures. Since then, our two firms have collaborated on raising two funds of almost $300 million, assembled a world-class team of six investors with cross-border operating experience and invested in 11 early-stage companies in the semiconductor, Internet and wireless sectors. The combination of Mayfield and GSR brings together the unique combination of strong operational experience in China, extensive international investment experience, and deep networks in China and Silicon Valley. We focus on companies with substantial operations in China that have the potential to become global leaders, with a special interest in semiconductor, Internet, wireless Internet and new media opportunities.
